What is the ASWA? |
The ASWA, or American Society of Women Accountants, is an
organization devoted to the support of women in all fields of accounting from
partners in large national firms to recent college graduates to women reentering
the workplace. Founded in 1938 with its first chartered chapter in Indianapolis,
Indiana, the ASWA has grown to well over 100 chapters and greater than 6000
members nation wide. Visit the web sites of some of our sister chapters from
this page. |

Who are the members of ASWA? |
Although men are welcome to join ASWA, and many have, the membership is made up
primarily of women in various fields of accounting. Most hold professional
certifications such as CPA, CMA, CIA and CFP. Many others are working toward
certifications and degrees in one or more branches of accounting or related
professions. Information on joining the San Antonio chapter of the ASWA can be
found by following this link. |

What is the goal of ASWA? |
The mission statement of the ASWA is "To enable women in all accounting and
related fields to achieve their full personal, professional and economic
potential and to contribute to the future development of their profession." More
can be found on the national ASWA web site. |

How does ASWA impact the community? |
Among the points of focus, the ASWA is dedicated to informing the public in
general and the profession in particular of the abilities and achievements of
women in accounting. Furthermore, the ASWA urges and supports its members to
continue their education and work toward certification. In a wider sense, this
chapter of the ASWA, like many of its sister chapters across the nation,
sponsors a scholarship for aspiring students of accounting. This scholarship is
meant to help students of local colleges and universities pursue their goal of
becoming a member of this noble profession. Information about our scholarship
program and a faxable application are available here. |
